This past summer, on June 7th, the White House in Washington, DC glowed bright orange in support of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. On that day, those impacted by gun violence were encouraged to wear the colour orange. The goal of the campaign is to urge the US Senate to adopt gun reform laws. Everytown for Gun Safety started the Wear Orange campaign to help spread the word across the nation. The not-for-profit group consists of moms, dads, students, survivors, educators, gun owners and concerned citizens working together to fight for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. The colour orange was selected for its boldness and its widespread use by hunters to signal to others “Don’t Shoot!”
