Italian artist Lara Favaretto works in many different mediums including performance, sculpture and videos. This 2009 installation includes colourful car wash brushes spinning close to one another and against steel plates mounted to the gallery walls behind them. The more the brushes spin, the more they gradually deteriorate. Their proximity to one another and fixed surfaces eventually cause their demise. Some of her car wash brush kinetic sculptures are named after couples (Bobby and Laura, Maria and Felix) – a comment on the wear and tear of close relationships.
