Hard Hats

A construction site is often a beehive of activity. Trucks, cranes, scaffolding, loud noise and building materials of every shape and description. And that’s not to mention the many workers buzzing around. Hard hats are mandatory equipment for the worksite’s entire labor force, regardless of status. The protective headgear has proven to prevent serious injuries in what can be an accident-prone environment. Hard hats just so happen to serve another, little-known function. Many job sites implement a colour coding system, utilizing hard hats, to help designate the different trades present on any given day. Seeing as this highly visible item is worn on the heads of all personnel, it makes it easy to identify trades people from a distance. Here is a break down of the professions found on a construction site and the hard hat colours associated with each:
